On April 5, 1956 the City of Lucan, Granite Rock and Johnsonville townships joined to form the Lucan Area Fire Department.

The members hold monthly meetings, attend training sessions and fire schools. They also have some training in hazardous materials.

The oldest service organization in Lucan is the all Volunteer Fire Department, established in 1911.
